New tires too Big ???
« on: August 24, 2007, 11:43:56 PM »

So I just put a new set of 245/85/16 Ribs on my 4" lifted raptor. As you can see they are tight! Bottom pic is two 15" & one 16". Sitting flat on pavement about 1" to 11/2" between them in the center. When center tire is raised & rear dropped, about 3/4". This is too close isn't it ? So Im staying with these tires regardless of labor involved if need be. My thoughts so far: Longer cantilevers for center wheel & move outer hangers out ? A while back I thought I came across a product that replaced the cantilevers for better ride, maybe kill two birds w/one stone. Any help appreciated---Thanks Proflow

I've got about 2 1/2 " between mine. How much work is it to move the hangers?, and would that give more space. I would thing that the axles would have to move. I might consider a lower profile 16" tire to widen the gap.

All is well. Better than expected actually. I was thinking the rear tires would scrub worse than before, but they don't because its only a small change in dimension really. I will be building & offering the lift kit to the public now that Ive put multiple thousands of miles on it with no problems. Shipping is the only thing I'm a little hung up on though. I can build for stock spacing or wider for larger wheels & tires like I did the second time. Thanks for your help & input on this folks---Proflow
