Riley Ranch?
« on: January 05, 2008, 12:43:03 PM »

Anybody heard anything lately about Riley Ranch....like when it might actually open?  Also do any of you know who the outfit is that will come to your campsite and empty your waste tanks and fill water at Horsfall or Horsfall Beach?  Thanks for any info!!

I spoke with Tamy at Coos Co. Parks this morning....here's the latest info.  The gravel overflow is now open.  They expect to have some sites (water & elec, no sewer) open the end of March.  Sites with hookups will be $30.  No dump at this time but will have one eventually.  Reservations will be thru Coos Co. Parks.  The downside is that the dune access is not expected to be open until the summer of 2009 so folks camping there will need to launch from a day use area.

This is so true. Fuel prices are at an all time high and we just need to bite the bullet and go spend quality time with our families at the coast.

OK, so we were at the KOA for Easter.  Got in some great riding.  I was amazed that there is so much water out on the dunes....definitely some deep stuff on Hauser & 430.  Lots of exposed timber out on the beach (that has been covered by sand for who knows how long).  I drove up to Riley....it's still closed up....barricade in front of the overflow....construction equipment on site with their building permit on a "Do Not Enter" sign.  Also there was a lot of water around the new day use at Horsfall.....but I am happy to say that the RZR got a little air time...and we had ice cream at  the rental place at Spinreel.
