Howdy T.I. members and visitors to the Forum.  I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

    My names is Tom and I am married to my high school sweet heart and we have four wonderful children ages 13, 9, 5, and 3.  We got started in ATVing in June of 2004.  We were camping at the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park and we had stopped by the Lighthouse to check out the view and we were mesmerized by all the people riding OHV's and having a great time in the sand.  I drove the family up to Spinreel ATV Rentals and for an hour we got hooked on the dunes because of a TrailBlazer 250 and the great folks that owned the rental place. With my rental they drove my wife and kids out to the sand area I would be riding in and that way both my wife and I could take turns riding the ATV.  I was an awesome experience.  While one of us was riding the ATV the other was playing with the kids in the sand.  This was way too much fun and we were hooked.  It had been 20 years since I had ridden an ATV and my wife had ridden her horse.  It was a lot different than I remembered from that Honda ATC 185s.  Yes, that's right I'm old school.  No suspension, just big old balloon tires and a hard seat.  The TrailBlazer was very comfortable to ride and my wife said it was very similar to riding her horse. 
   
     So from that day, we had to have our own stuff and we have not regretted one minute.  We pull our 5th wheel out into the sand to camp and we have a blast riding and playing in the sand just like that first time.  We  joined T.I. in March of 2006 and have met many wonderful people.  This is another reason riding the dunes has been so rewarding is the people you meet.  Most are the friendliest folks I ever met.  I don't know much about my neighbors at home but, have had lots of good visits with my ATV Brethren.

   Since joining T.I., I have gone from blissful ignorance of riding OHV's on public land to being actively involved with protecting the rights and privileges of riders across the State.  Nothing gets me more fired up than a group of "haters", trying to tell me how and where to ride or telling me how to raise my kids.  Riding ATV's has brought my family closer together.  We all look forward to our trips to the dunes.  But, I have come to realize that with that fun comes some responsibility and activity other than putting gas in the ATV's or changing plugs.  In order to continue to enjoy this sport in the future we have to stay proactive in watching what the "haters" are trying to do to kill our sport. 

   I want to encourage all of you visitors to think about joining T.I.  The more members we have the bigger our voice to challenge laws that are restricting our rights or land closures restricting our places to ride.  We need to increase our numbers of concerned ATVers or our rights will just continue to get chipped away until no one can ride. 

  Stay involved, stay informed or be forced to stay home...

The Next meeting will be on Nov. 17th, I hope many of our members can attend to meet Mr Dune Dude and family as well as join the club, bring friends to join and lets get some numbers to have a bigger voice when it comes to getting and keeping what brings us all together, RIDING.

Sorry VP, but I'd like to see this meeting take place in Grants Pass.  It seems the 17th is also Jeanne's fathers birthday.  However, she wasn't anywhere to be found when we were talking about the meeting date now was she?

I will use my unlimited powers to say you decide VP.  I 'm down with whatever.  How is that for taking action...Pretty scary huh?  Just think of other things I will accomplish in office...

The Meeting will be an open meeting and we welcome all members, potential members and their friends. We will have this meeting at Angelo's Pizza in Medford on Main street just East of Blackbird shopping center. Let's meet at 11:00 am and take the meeting from there.
