Hi everyone, I've been lurking this site for months, and finnaly decided to get involved. we are into togeatherness or should I say side by sides . I have a rhino and ride with a few other rhino folks( also couples) at horsefall we have a a few chinese buggys an 800 (my Mom N dad) and a 250 ( guest ride) and a few quads in our group. we alll try to get out in the dunes about once a month reguardless of the season ....we have roofs and windshields. my log-on name comes from our outdoor pets aka the hay burners.

Welcome. You'll see most of the members here ride often and enjoy meeting up with new people. We show our Temporary Insandity flags with pride also, so if you see one don't be afraid to pull up and say hello.

went riding at horsefall yesterday 10-14- 07. we had a pretty good day. I got a cel phone pic I'll see if I can post it
Looking forward to being an active member here. what's the deal with T.I. flags? are there any Dune patrol members here? My wife and I have only been dunning for a year or so ....were still learning stuff. Our group is growing and some logistics of keeping track of everyone and getting everyone to move as a group are coming up
you all got any tips or techniques to maximize our group dunning experience?

Joe, again, good to have ya on board.
You can purchase T.I. flags through the T.I. store.................however, you will still have to have your orange safety flag, due to the T.I. flag not meeting the Orange color requirement.
We currently do not have any Law Enforcement members yet. But, hopefully soon we may see them on the site. It would be nice to have them as members to answer questions from others.
Group Duning? Stay in line............safety in numbers, only ride as hard as the weakest member.........only fast as the slowest person, and stop once in a while to check on everyone. Those are a few things I like to keep in mind when we have a big group.

Good advice DJ. We fly our TI flags under our orange flags to help us see each other and it works well. Also it's nice to find other TI members out in the dunes. As we ride in large groups we also do what DJ says as well as follow in the same tire marks as the leader, (to avoid drop offs) and stay to the right, if another rider is coming toward you, you should both go hard right to avoid a head on. I have seen this on some other sites and if the word gets to enough people, the hope is to continue to make the dunes and other riding spots safer as time goes on.

A big howdy hey Joe Llamahead,
When riding the dunes with a friend or a group always know the area you are going to ride. Scout the area first to check for danger spots and to evaluate the terrain for you or your groups riding skills. The lead person should be a good rider that knows the area and the abilities of the people following. Leave enough space between riders in case of a quick stop or change of direction and always have an experienced rider in the back to help with those that get stuck or lost etc. Group rides are fun for everyone and should be treated as a nice stroll through the dunes. You can stop at various places to let some members stretch their OHV legs by climbing the big dunes, sidehilling or even a friendly race. Then get every one back in line for another trip through the vast sand.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and advise. 95% of our dunning is at the horsefall area. we are fairly familure with the area but still some of the trails get us confused. . I'm thinking some communication between the head and tail of the group will help a lot! We've tried some 2 way radios But because of the noise we cant hear too well and have to stop to even hear and that's not too reliable. I'm going to get some throat mics and try that next. also I'm thinking everyone needs to set tire pressure at home before the days ride.it seams like pre ride tinkering is eroding ride time. My wife Brenda and I are dune patrol members . we aren't too officaly active. The dune patroll works in cooperation with law enforcemennt, But we do not enforce any laws we inform folks of the laws (wer are aware of)and frankly I don't even bother with some folks that obviouslyly don't care what the laws are. mostly, we help people get unstuck, give directions and pick up trash.

In that case, there are lots of us here that are dune patrol people.
