October Trip Notes
« on: October 05, 2007, 08:33:15 AM »

 Dear Diary,

We head out Wed. and miss all the rain.  We stop for fuel and water and all seems in order.  The skies open up at Coos Bay and the sun shines through as I search for a sand camping site.  All is perfect in the world.  This is going to be a great weekend.  I have a huge smile on my face as I ride back to the truck.  "Daddy, what is leaking under the truck?"
Did I mention I had spent $1100.00 on Tuesday to have the water pump replaced?!  My great weekend is rapidly coming to an end as the  orange solution streams from the front of the engine.
I managed to get the trailer set up and the truck to the local dealer at 7:30 am yesterday.   I rented a Dodge mini van so I could transport the family around when the rain hits, so we won't be stuck in the sand.  The guy from Enterprise was not amused when I asked if he thought the van could make it out in the sand.
I drove back to camp waiting for the rain and thinking that the trip was ruined.
Hold on there mister gloomy face!
The weather was great yesterday.  No rain and the sun was out.  We had fun in the sand and I even got my truck back all fixed.  The weekend is looking good again!
However, my local dealor is going to have a large reimbursement check for me when I return home.  The labor to remove the pump and replace two seals was $420.00.
This proves the old saying.. I would rather have a bad day at the dunes than a good day at work..

Dear Diary,
Friday's weather was even more awesomer than Thursday's.  Not a cloud in the sky and just a light wind.  We drove the repaired Duramax on to the beach for a picnic lunch and let the kids play in the waves.  We then drove up to Hauser Rd then all the way down to the ship wreck for some pics.  We even drove by a seal sunny himself on the beach.

We did get in lots of riding.  The wee littlest one is now riding on her own.  I turned the throttle down on the 50cc and she is doing great.  I even rode all the way to Spin Reel and back (about 20 miles round trip).

I didn't even try the van in the sand.  If you break it you buy it is hidden some  where in the contract.

Just got in the house and had to download the photo's of the trip.  Man was it a lot of fun.  For those of you that were stuck at work don't look, the images may be too disturbing...

The Dune Dude Family Sand Camp Site...

Didn't I tell you the weather was great?

The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?  Or something like that...

No, I didn't run the seal over...

Mrs. Dune Dude and the wee little one riding together...

Anna and Aleah enjoying their mini's...  Anna says the secret to speed is the pink Care Bear in the handle bars...

Amanda moving up to the Honda 250ex...

Dune Kid thinks he can fly...

The whole Dune Dude Family out in Coos Bay...

Looks like you had a lot of fun, and the weather looked good to. We were over at Silver lake deer hunting and the first day we got there it snowed 5 1/2 inches then the temp went down to 16 deg.  We worked the heaters over time.

You should have run over that seal.  I hate them.

No.  I'm not walking into the "blown seal" gag!
