AfterBurner going for New World Record
« on: June 17, 2007, 06:16:23 AM »

Today, Afterburner (Terry) is going for a new world record. He has the rocket turned up and the practice runs all done. He will be going for 170-180mph on his Highly modified 700 Rocket Raptor. I will keep you updated later tonight on how fast he made it and lets all hope that he stays safe for this. His daughter Natalie is also going to set a new Woman's record. Stay tuned for details.

He has a new World record. I spoke with Terry last night and he did a top speed run of 164mph. The world record is set at 154mph due to the method of calculation, you must do back to back runs and sustain the speed for 1/2 mile. they average the two runs for the record. There is more to it, but that is the just of it. Natalie set a new Women's record at 134mph and did a top speed run at 135mph. Congratulations to the both of you.

Back home now.  As Pat indicated, we both achieved new world records.  I really wanted that 160+ mark but couldn't get it done consecutively.  Rocket Raptor 5.0 didn't fare so well and experienced some damage as a result of being pushed to it's limits.  The rocket engine combustion chamber even blew apart.  I am glad everyone was safe, especially my daughter and I hope this new record keeps the Swedes at bay for another year.  Thanks everyone for the support.

Congratulations!

Next year you will hit 160mph.

Way to go!  Glad to hear you both are safe and each have new records.
