Timbrens are ON
« on: June 07, 2007, 09:21:43 PM »

I just picked up my Warrior this evening and the Timbrens are on. We put them on the rear Axel in hopes of distributing the weight to all three axles, and making any sway a past thing. I will report how they do on a hwy test near the end of this month.

Do you have a sway problem with your trailer ?  If you do have a swaying problem, I wouldn't think that putting those timbrens on would help it out. I would think it would be either to much weight on the tongue or not enough weight. Also maybe your anti sway bars aren't set right.  Let us know if they help or not.

This is a pilot project with Timbrens and Warrior. It's main objective is to not overload the rear axle and to transfer weight to all Axles evenly, Some members have noticed that if you touch the axles after a long tow, the rear one can be really hot, much more than the front.  By doing this and stabilizing the rear axle, the hope is to eliminate the possibility of sway more and improve the towing Even more. Just a more solid and controllable unit. I will report after our first long pull, Hopefully at the end of this month.

I am still curious if they will put added tongue weight on the truck.  Without individual axle weight numbers, it is only a guess that it is effective.  With Timbrens on your truck you need to weigh the rear truck axle to make sure you are not over loading the tires...

There is a small percent of weight being transferred onto the tongue of the trailer. It is in the 2-3% range. The Timbrens are rated at only 1,000 pounds so there will be plenty of give still on the rear axle.

Well, I did the first pull with the Timbrens on the Rear axle of our triple axle Weekend Warrior and  here is the report. I did a lot of experimenting with and without the sway control. Prior to the Timbrens and with the sway control, passing or being passed by big rigs I would feel pull from the trailer, with the Timbrens in place and sway control NO pull under the same situations. After getting to our destination and camping for a couple of days, we went up the road to spot #2, This time with no sway control. 15 miles and the trailer pulled great. I went to spot #3 again with no sway control, It pulled great. Coming home, 150 miles of highway, No sway control and ZERO pull or sway. The trailer pulled great and It seems the trailer is pulling better than ever.
