KFX 700 Belt Warning Light
« on: April 25, 2007, 08:11:38 PM »

While out at Dunefest "06 the Red Belt Indicator Light came on after a long ride.  I took off the inspection cover and found the belt to be in great shape and no foreign objects stuck in the clutches.  When I restarted it the light was still on.  Being smart enough to realize that a red light is bad, I tried to get the answer to the problem.  Talking with a Kawi Dealer, they informed me that at 100 hours the light will illuminate for a maintenance inspection or if there is a problem of excessive slippage of the belt.  Since I had inspected the belt and all was well, my small powers of deduction lead me to conclude I had 100 hours on the machine.   I then tried disconnecting the battery, turn the key on and off 5 times, did a River Dance around the bike to summon the ATV gods, to no avail.   The light stayed on.  For the next few months I tried other rituals and a virgin sacrifice but nothing would get rid of that annoying light.  I know I could have taken it to the dealer but I don't have an extra $75 and time to bring it to the dealer.
Dude?  What did you do?
Thanks for asking...
Dirt Wheels to the Rescue...
In the March addition, in the Dialed In Section they addressed this very problem.  And with the help of my favorite mag. I was able to reset the light.  Now she is just like new.
Thanks Dirt Wheels
You guys Rock!  or is it Mud? or Sand?

Ah the old tape over the light trick, or my favorite pull the bulb out trick.

Shane, Shane, Shane,

Where have you been my boy?

700 refers to the amount of calories in each spamwich.  That's why I limit my intake to 3 at a time.  I thought when my gut covered up the light I would be ok!
