Apr 1, 2007 11:41 am US/Pacific (CBS) PERRIS, Calif. An eight-month-old riding unrestrained with his father in an all-terrain vehicle died when the vehicle collided with another ATV, officials said.
The collision was reported at 6:30 p.m. on San Jacinto Road, just east of Forest Road, according to the coroner's office.
Norman Spencer Davis Jr., 24, of Perris, was holding his infant son between his legs as he drove the ATV, said California Highway Patrol Officer Chad Yager.
Davis lost control of the vehicle when he tried to overtake another ATV, causing his vehicle to crash into a wooden and barbed wire fence, Yager said.
The infant, Norman Davis III, was ejected onto the fence, Yager said.
He died about a half hour later at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley.
The father was booked at Robert Presley Detention Center for vehicular manslaughter without gross neglect and was released on $2,500 bail shortly afterward.

I don't care if the father was an idiot - this is just sad. Man folks have got to put a brain in their head.
