POWER VS. EMISSIONS
« on: January 29, 2007, 03:38:27 PM »

Here is a quote from Diesel Power magazine concerning low sulfur fuel . " For the most part , power and performance shouldn't suffer with the new fuel ,  but fuel economy is expected to be lower because the process that removes sulfur can reduce the energy density of the fuel . That , of course , lowers the miles per gallon . Expect about a one percent loss across the board . The new fuel will have lubricity and stability additives mixed in at the refineries , making the fuel compatible with older engines . Those engines will have a bit more flexibility in that they can burn the new fuel as well as the earlier blends if necessary . The newer engines cannot ." I know we had a discussion about this subject before , but I found this in one of my magazines , figured I'd share it with you .

There is an alternative fuel that has been around since WWII.  The millions of people that use the fuel swear by its performance and ease of use.   The fuel is basically nondeteriorating and is sealed in a lubricant to presserve the fuel virtually forever.  However, it has caused a controversy on this forum from the many who feel its use is just not acceptable.  Mainly because of the increased emissions associated with its use.  Super Performance Additive Media has either lovers or haters with no one in between.  For more information on S.P.A.M. visit www.spam.com  See what you are missing.  NOT!!

It would seem to me that you'd never notice a 1% change...

If you were getting 100 MPG, then you would get 99 MPG....    So if you average 20 MPG, you might lose what...Huh....  0.2 MPG??

I challenge anyone to actually notice a difference like that!! LOL Cheesy

Heck you can lose up to 25% just from different driving styles on both ends of the spectrum.

Unfortunately, he ordered 5 cases of Super Performance Additive Media for his Dodge.  He was last seen squeezing it through a funnel into his fuel tank.  I think I smell him driving up now!  Cheesy
