Kawasaki 700
« on: January 03, 2007, 06:53:22 AM »

Anyone riding the Kawasaki 700 with the automatic trany ?
We sold the little womens Suzuki 400 and I kept my Raptor 660 and bought the sandrail because she never got the hang of, or felt comfortable shifting. She won't ride the raptor because of the same thing. But now she thinks she might want the 700.
I hardly ever ride the Raptor anymore now that we have the sandrail, so I told her I would sell it and buy a 700 if thats what she really wants
Do any of you have experience with the 700 ?  Huh

I used to ride the bike until my wife discovered how much more fun it is than the Trailblazer250.  Now I have to be good to even get a turn on it.  It is an excellent bike for cruising the dunes.  It has all the power needed to conquer the bigest dunes and more than enough speed for my wife.  It has a very wide stance and is not tippy.  She feels more confident on it than the 250 because of its power.  She does not get worried that she will get stuck climbing up a dune.  We think it is an excellent bike and have been very happy with it.  It has the auto tranny with reverse.   It's like riding a recliner in the dunes, very comfortable.  The only draw back is it is a large bike and very heavy.

that is the main reason I didn't not buy by wife one..............i thought if she got stuck or crashed, or flipped it on top of herself, she could never get it off, or move the bike............other than that

it seems like it would be the perfect bike for your wifey...........

DJ,

The tires should always be touching the sand.  Remember rubber side down.

My wife was used to riding the Polaris which weighs in at 460+ lbs.  It just does not have any power with the 250 2-stroke.  The KFX 700 tips the scale at over 516 Lbs dry.  She says she feels more comfortable and confident on the Kawi.  She is by no means a dare devil and just like to cruise the dunes and climb the easy hills.  She says she feels more stable and in control on the Kawi than the Polaris.

hdrider,

You and your wife are welcome to try the beast if you would like.

Thanks for the input. I also considered the weight but it seems that I'm the one that always gets her un stuck anyway  Roll Eyes And like Dune Dude's wife, mine is a pretty mellow rider. No hole shots or fast washboard rides.
One thing she liked her suzuki 400 because was it's width. Just hated the clutch as I mentioned before.

Thanks for the offer for a test ride Dune Dude ! If we end up at the dunes at the same time we might take you up on that. We are thinking of going to Coos Bay next weekend, 13th & 14th depending on weather. I have to be in Dallas TX the 19th through the 22nd and of course the Elks lodge crab feed is the 27th  Grin And the 2 seater switch over is supposed to happen in Feb. Better get some riding in when I can.

My friend has one, and I helped him break in the 2nd one (his in-laws) about a year or so ago down at Florence.

They are actually pretty fun to ride!  They can be a little tippy though (on the side of a hill or turning too quickly).

Of course they also weigh a ton!  But overall, I think it would probably be a pretty nice ride for your wife Wink

They kinda ride like a Cadillac (nice N smooth) Cheesy

The automatic clutch is good for those who don't like a manual tranny too Wink
