Spring Break Dune Trip
« on: December 28, 2006, 04:04:15 PM »

Spring Break is just around the corner and we are planning to hit the dunes.  We have not decided if we are going to Coos Bay, Winchester Bay or Florence.  Is anyone else down with some sand time between March 24-April 1 2007??

We are always up for a dune run. If our new rail is done anyway. Plus it would give us a chance to meet a few good folk from TI.

Are you guys man enough to pull your trailers out into the sand?  We could circle the wagons and set up a nice spot.  Winchesterbay has the easiest access if it is not flooded.  We missed Coos Bay last year and would like to go back sometime.  However, we are opened to anything with sand.

VP,

Your dates that you got off are in the middle of the week Tue, Wed, Thurs??   Huh
I need to look at your trailer again to see about those tanks.  I usually don't go in where it is very rough or whooped out.

We are opened to any area.  We perfer to sand camp for the wee little ones in our clan so they can also ride and eat sand.  But, we would also like to be around the rest of the people that are going.

Any thoughts?

I'll be over there for Spring break, but already made whimpie reservations at the KOA at Houser.  Mainly to use their showers and electricity for the extended stay.  But, if anyone ends up at Horsfall/Spinreel let me know.  Would love to meet up with ya'll.

OK CAMPERS.

It looks like Tues March 27 - Sat March 31 for me.  VP will be there the 27-29.  I have another that is interested in Sand Camping that week.  Where you ask?  I want to try Hauser.  Dunescreaminmama will be at the KOA which is close by for any others that are not into pulling 20,000 + lbs into the soft sand.  Plus the Myrtle Wood Factory parking lot is available if you can't get into the KOA.
Who else is up for burying the tow rig?
The spots are first come first serve until May.  The spots will take up to 5 trailers.  If we have more I can get a reservation for the group site which is good up to 20 trailers.

Looks like my summer season is getting eaten up already by ATV racing. I will be in Glen Helen that weekend. Bummer. You all have fun then though!

As of right now the dunes has about 50% more water on them than last year. The highway from Discovery point to the 3rd parking lot has been closed for about a month or so now. Its flooded just about halfway from the first parking lot to the 2nd, and closed from there on.

Now it might be opened up before spring break, but who knows. The sand dunes are really flooded right now to. I expect that during spring break that they will still be to much water out from the 3rd parking lot to drive out there and camp. The water is clear up in the parking lot right now. Also lots of quicksand to.

I will try to let everyone know about the water elsewhere to.
