I just got my first fill up of the new diesel fuel. It will be interesting to see if there is any difference.

I fuel at Pacific Pride and the location here in Grants Pass just added the new fuel. The stickers on the pumps used to read that no 2007 and later vehicles can use this fuel on the old #2 diesel. When I filled up Tuesday the stickers reflected the Ultra Low Sulfur 15 ppm.

Running the ultra low sulfer fuel is fine , but there are a few things you should know about it . In the process of making the fuel , they actualy lose some of the lubricating agents in the fuel , so your motor isn't getting the lubrication it's used to getting from the #2 diesel. The solution is to simply add an additve such as stanadine or lucas oil product. This will improve the cetane rating ( octane rating for gas ) and replace the lubrication agents that were lost in the making of the fuel. The new low sulfer fuel was designed for the '07 and newer trucks , so if you want to run it , save your truck ,put a diesel additive in your tank. Its cheap insurance for your motor.

What additive are you guy's useing ? Do you see a differance when you use it ?
I am using stanadyne...............i don't know anyone that has ever had a problem with it, and it is the ONLY one recommended by all 3 big truck makers........(correct me if im wrong PDP Shane). I have not noticed much, but, I just started using it about a month ago, and I am still using good ol #2 original fuel!

I use Red line Diesel fuel catalyst. I have used it from day one and it's been good to me.

Redline , lucas , Stanadine , their all good . You just want to make sure you are using an additive with the ultra low sulfer fuels and with the 20% bio diesel blend . Good ol' #2 is fine to run without the additives , it's the other fuels you will want to run additives with in every tank to help keep the lubricating agents in the fuel that are lost in the refining process .

Now I have to be a chemist to run my diesel. How are the new engines handling the loss of lubrication from the new fuel? Or are they required to run additives?

The new motors were designed to run on the ultra low sulfer fuel . A person could run what ever they want to in their truck . How long would it last ?...... couldnt tell ya just yet , the fuel is to new. All I know is what the diesel performance engineers tell me , which is the newer ultra low sulfer fuels have lost some of their lubrication . Thats why I recommend running an additive

Ok, so I am stupid in the arena of the new low sulfer fuels.... I just bought a brand new 2006 Dodge 2500 cummins diesel quad cab, that only has 173 miles on it. so...... There are now TWO differen't types of diesel??? Am I to specify which diesel I am filling up with??? Will it matter if I use a low sulfer diesel in my new 2006??? Where do I get these "additives" you speak of??? How much do they cost??? How much do you add to a tank of gas? Geeze!!!!! I feel like I am mixing for a 2-stroke again!!!

In a way it fells just like that. I run the RedLine ($5.00 a bottle) and use a quarter bottle per tank. I have done this from the first tank and have never have any problems with my injectors, fuel pump or any thing else you hear alot of others talking about. I figure for just $1.25 per tank, how could I go wrong.
