600 h.p. , 1000 f.p.t. , 30 m.p.g. Cummins
« on: October 17, 2006, 11:43:34 AM »

8)Since i started this diesel company , i've been telling people " the more you do to a diesel , the more you can get out of them ". Now when I say that I mean increased h.p. , tourqe , and mileage. So with that in mind , I decided to prove it . I am not yet possitive about exact output numbers yet , but with the stuff thats going on my '04 cummins , the h.p. should be in the neighborhood of around 600 h.p. , 1000 f.p.t. and if my figures are right , it should get around 30 m.p.g.  The power add ons include tourqe converter and valve body so the tranny will handle the h.p. , exaust manifold , air intake , bigger injector nozzles , bigger lift pump , and a set of twin turbos . These products are all coming from B.D. Diesel , you wont find any Banks equiptment on this dodge ! ! ! As soon as the equiptment gets here and I install it , Il try to give all you guys a closer set of numbers on the mileage , h.p. , and tourqe.

Well , i jjust got back from a diesel performance class and dyno day that BD Diesel puts on for their dealers , and even though i don't have all my parts in yet , i do have some news about the performance upgrades i will be putting on my truck . There was a guy there that had every thing i had ordered on his truck.......  620 h.p. , 1448 ft.lb. tourqe , and still getting between 20 and 25 m.p.g. , and getting in the low 12's in the quarter mile. Not bad for a 7,000 lb. 4 door pick up. Cool

Cool info Shane.  It is great to get some real world performance numbers from a knowledgeable person, instead of having to rely on the "streched truth" of performance parts advertisements.

If you did all that to a chevy , it would probly fall apart ! Grin

Just kidding . just trying to rib the chevy guys a little. Actualy , the duramaxs are capable of producing jutst about as much power as the cummins .I f you guys want to see some examples of some good diesel dyno pulls and maybe a few burnouts , go to " www.fastspecialties.com" and go to video gallery , scroll all the way to the bottom , and you can watch some video clips of their diesel dyno days .  Cool

(the duramaxs are capable of producing jutst about as much power as the cummins)

Leave it to the Dodge guys to not understand  the phrase "about as much as".  Meaning not equal too, but less than.

OK class remember the, < less than sign, > greater than sign, and = equal too.
eg. 1<2 says 1 is less than 2
2>1 says 2 is greater than 1  ( I'm typing slow so the Ford guys can keep up.)
3=3 says that 3 is equal to 3

Now with this basic understanding lets go back to the Dodge guys equation:

Dodge>Chevy says Dodge is greater than Chevy or they could have said Chevy<Dodge (Chevy is less than Dodge)
(What's that Ford guys?  Yes, they are two different equations.  Yes, they mean the same thing.  You see its a logical math problem that if one is true then conversely the other is also true.  I see the blank look on your faces, go ahead and work with a Chevy guys for the rest of the class.)

Not only are they saying that Chevy's are less than a Dodge (or as we learned above, Dodge is greater than Chevy) but also that they are not equal either.

At the web site www.fastspecialties.com they have a video showing Diesel Dyno Days 1 and 2.
The best Dodge had 606.7hp and 1297.3 tq
The best Chevy had 694.3hp and 1523.6 tq

So class, what should the Dodge guys equation look like from the above example?

Yes duraraptor that's right, Chevy>Dodge
And that's also correct DuneJunkie, you can also say that Dodge<Chevy
Sorry VP, nice try but Dodge=Chevy is not correct you see 694.3hp, 1523.6tq is much bigger than 606.7hp,1297.3tq

Tune in next week when we discuss the phrase "My truck kicks butt!"  Assigning human traits to inanimate objects.   Grin

Well , there is one little thing about chevys when it comes to building power . You will spend alot more money on a duramax trying to get the same amount of power that you can get out of a cummins . ( the ford power puke need not apply ) Cool

One thing is definitely cool regardless of which brand you own.  Dual stacks coming out of the bed spewing gobs of black smoke while the turbos whine at full boost!

That was what I was thinking.  Has anybody seen any local trucks with the stacks?  Wouldn't that get your hauler all dirty?
