Extending swing arm on Wife's quad
« on: June 02, 2006, 05:54:24 AM »

We are talking about a 3" extension on the Wife's swing arm. I think we are a go on it, but have a question first.
1. Will this be long enough to keep the front end from flipping her over on the hills??(main purpose)
2. will it affect the turning too much?? I know it will some, but she is not a racer and doesn't do slides or hairpin turns.

I am still running a stock swingarm on my yfz.........i am planning on putting a +4 on mine, and thinking about putting a +4 on the 400ex too!
As far as keeping the front end down, yea, i think +3 is plenty for that!  i don't think she will have a problem.......i haven't seen any +3's, but if a +4 is about the same price, thats the way I would go.
I don't think it will change the cornering too much...........

just my thoughts, cuz i am still running stock swingers...........

Now, Towman on the other hand has +4 on both his yfz and the wifes raptor.......i bet he could chime in here!

To be honest with you, I don't think that anyone builds a 3 inch over swingarm. If there is someone that does, it would be news to me.

If it were me, I would go with 4 inch. Because if you ever decide to sell it the 4 inch will be a better seller. I personally really like my 4 inch and the wifes 4 inch to. I can go up hills and keep the front tires on the sand. I don't like the front tires in the air to much. I guess I am a chicken. lol

One of our sponsors is going to cut the stock one and extend it for me and do all the work.

Well, the work is getting done now. And you guys are right, It's a plus 4. Medford Powersports is doing it for us and it should be done by Saturday. Parts,(new chain, steel braided brake line and parking brake block off) and labor is only $400.00. I feel that's a good deal.
