Truck Bed Liners
« on: May 18, 2006, 03:47:44 PM »

Tomorrow, I am using my T.I. membership to its fullest and having Line-X sprayed in the bed of my truck.  I will post before & after pics...........

So, I am wondering how happy you are with your spray in liner.

Anyone have any stories, good/bad, to share...............?

The spray on bedliner is the only way to go. I've had it on my last 3 trucks and will have it on any others I may get in the future.
Looks like they did a nice job on yours !!

1. you would be supporting one of our spnosors and
2. think of the Bio Diesel and entertainment you would have to come on down here for a visit. You should make one trip down here for your trailer and line-x

I was thinking about painting the floor of our enclosed trailer with this bed liner paint.  Does it work on plywood floors?

Anybody know anything about this?

I thought I'd (if reasonable) paint the floor and up 12" on the sidewalls, then I could hose it out?

That is a VERY good question!!

I am going to follow this thread to find out what everyone has to say about this.   I tohught I'd heard about others doing this to their trailers, but its been a long time, so I am not positive about this.

It DOES sound like an attractive idea IF (like you mentioned) it is financially feasible.

If its around 500 bucks to coat a truck bed, maybe 1000 bucks to do a 20 ft trailer?? Huh

I just got off the phone with Mark at Line X

And remember this is just a (I haven't seen it) estamate.

Trailer 8-1/2 x 20' + 1' up the sidewall + ramp = $1850.00

I don't think that's a bad price / but I'll probably try to cost out the DIY  version 1rst.

Me too.
Wal-Mart 15.77 per gallon Spray or roll on - I couldn't read the spread rate.  It was probably on it but the print was tiny - I literally could not read it. LOL...
I'd bet 3 gallons max, uh thats about 48.00 bucks.  Probably not as good as Lin-x but a whole lot less money.

Well, even if you did 3-4 coats total, I'd think that'd be what??  Maybe 15 gal or so max??

Just make sure that floor is spotless before putting that stuff down!!

One of our friends had his brand new 16 foot Haulmark trailer done the same way at a shop in Portland and it cost him way less than $1000.00.  Also, my nephue done his brand new Dodge 4x4 short box with the do it yourself from Napa for less than $1000.00. He beats the heck out of his truck and it is holding up perfect. He is a plumber.  That is the what I'am doing to my Dodge.

Whoops, I went to Walmart to buy a couple of gallons of the bed liner paint on / anyway it isn't $15.77 they had the price in front of it the first time.
It's actually $42.++  I bought a couple of gallons to get started.  I had the cashier with better eyes read the label for me and it say covers 80 - 100 square feet per gallon at 6 mill spreed rate.

We all know that means you'll be lucky to cover 50 sf with normal application.   So, I'll let you know how it goes.

Have any of you guys ever heard of that stuff called "Gorilla Grip"  I went online last night and looked it up and it sounds like pretty good stuff. They also want dealers to spray it on like the Line-x and other dealers. The way I read it was for $115.00 you get 1 gallon and 3 quarts along with a couple of rollers and some cleaner.  I couldn't find out just where it is that you purchase it at, but there is a phone number to contact them. I seen it at several different places I was looking through. It might be pretty good stuff for the money.

 Cheesy
I thought about starting this project today, but after pulling the quads out I realized I had started too late in the day. LOL.

I built a floor inside that allows the quads to drive over the wheel well and be parked side by side - now I realize to do this job right I'll have to remove that before I begin sanding and cleaning.  The weatherman is saying rain tomorrow, and this will take me more than one day.  So, I'll have to do it another time.  Instead I put the tie downs in and then just packed the quads back in and tied them down.  Sometimes I find I move backwards. LOL.  Grin

Seriously, save your selves the headache............

in less than 2 hours, Line-X will have your truck done!  Guarenteed for life!  if it ever fails, they fix it FREE!

By the time you do all the labor, and buy all the stuff, then wait for the weather, finally get it done, you might as well spend the money at Line-X.  Besides with the T.I. discount you save big time!

DJ, the problem that I have seen personally with these companys that does this stuff is I haven't heard of any that will stand behind there product 100%.  My friend ( and I will mention his name Dick Adams ) lives here in Reedsport. He bought a brand new Ford, taken it to a line-X dealer in the valey and had it sprayed. It cost him $450.00. He got it home and about a month later he went with me over to the north beach cutting firewood. When we got back he had 3 places in the box where the firewood tore big pieces off. They were about the size of your fist. He taken it back to them to get fixed and they told him that hauling firewood wasn't covered under there warentee. Also, the 3 places where it had come off, it was about the thickness of a piece of paper. Now he sets with a $450.00 bed liner that has holes all through it. Nothing he could do about it. Now that is just one dealer. How many more out there says the same thing but does the opisite.

I guess it is what a person can afford makes a big difference to.

Shocked

Whoops, I went to Walmart to buy a couple of gallons of the bed liner paint on / anyway it isn't $15.77 they had the price in front of it the first time.
It's actually $42.++  I bought a couple of gallons to get started.  I had the cashier with better eyes read the label for me and it say covers 80 - 100 square feet per gallon at 6 mill spreed rate.

We all know that means you'll be lucky to cover 50 sf with normal application.   So, I'll let you know how it goes.
LMAO!!  Yeah, thats just a little difference in price.. Undecided Shocked

Let us know how it turns out!

Yeah, AND I have DSL too, so loading shouldn't take that long either?? Huh

I tried twice, but nothing showed after it said it was done downloading.  Wierd.  I have downloaded dozens of other PDF files, so I'm not really sure whats going on? Huh

I'll have to try it again and see if it works....

Ok, so it finally worked this time.... Roll Eyes

Still took forever to load for some flippin reason... Undecided

Anyway, it appears as though the warranty is only good for truck beds? Huh
So if you have this done to a trailer floor, according to the warranty sheet this would NOT have a lifetime warranty as would the truck bed... Shocked

Well I completed phase one of the bed liner painting in the trailer 2 coats almost 2 gallons.  My trailer is 20 feet long I stopped short in the front about 4 feet.  I went up the side walls about 2 feet.  I'll do the front and the lifted floor over the wheel wells another day.  It turned out great.  I took some digitals, but can't find the cord to take pics off the camera.  So, I'll share when I find the cord.

I put pictures on a new thread...
