helmets---when to replace??
« on: April 25, 2006, 09:39:07 PM »

My 11 year old son has a helmet that he has had since he was 7. It still fits him fine, but is there a time limit that the helmet should be replaced?? he has not had any hard crashes with it nor has it been abused in any way.

as long as it hasn't had any hard impacts you may be alright..........

i saw not too long ago, a small sticker device that you put on your helmet, and it is on one color, and if your helmet take a hard enough hit, it changes color, indicating you helmet needs replaced........

not sure where I saw them though............

A helmet is a "one impact" device, that includes dropping from the handlebars.
If his helmet has never been dropped, or in a crash where the noggin took a shot, it should be fine.
