WIth the fuel prices the way they are going, does this affect you still makeing the normal trips you would go on? I just filled my trailer yesterday for mothers day weekend, $115.00 dollars ouch.

Unfortunately yes it dose. We use to go to the coast every month in the summer and at least every other in the off months but now I can only see 1 or 2 trips this year. It looks like we will just take more local trips to ride here, as long as I can ride somewere I'm happy.

Yep, it's putting a hurting on my pockets as well. I make a decent living but it's nothing I will say is going to set me up for life. As it stands, I'm not sure I will be able to make at least 1 trip to the dunes this year. For me to make that trip, I calculated what would amount to roughly $600.00+ to make a 3 day dune trip. So, I took the family out to Jim Creek camping this weekend, which is about a 2 1/2 - 3 hr drive and I have to say for what the campground was/was'nt I could have left my trailer at home, saved the $100.00+ in fuel, full hook up camp fee, food, etc.. and camped out in my backyard for a whole lot less. But, because my kids really get a kick out of going camping in the 5er, I went ahead and bit the cost bullet and went out for the weekend. Something has got to give on these high gas prices !!!! I dont want to turn this into a political post, but somebody is making a killing off of the little man. The only saving grace is that I usually go 2 weeks on a tank of diesel driving 20+ miles to and from work and I can still get decent mileage while towing. But at $3.00 a gallon it's getting harder to justify towing my 12,000lbs (dry) toy hauler. At one site I go to (I wont mention) this turned into a big fussing match that almost caused me to be put on probation because two of the members (adminstrators) had stock in a certain oil company swore up and down that high gas prices are good. (freaking idiots ) Then one of his cronies chimed in on how that money goes into R&D etc... Then I find out that clown also had stock in that certain oil company. Wish I could have smacked them both...

I still plan on riding at least once a month, whether its overnight, or just a day ride........ yes, it is expensive...........but, its like therapy. I did not pay all this money to have these very nice toys to sit around in the garage. I am going to use them.......... and yes, I am going to pay out the a$$ for it, but.............it will be fun while I am going broke!

Well said DJ, Just buy the legendary "Tube steaks" instead of the T-bone steaks for the B-B-Q. Anything you can do to come riding. You only live once.

Fuel prices do hurt but with getting a new rail this year I'm not going to let it stop me. I plan to make 2 trips a month with a little luck. I may not be as far away as some, a 2.5 hour drive roughly. I made the maiden voyage with the new toy yesterday for a 1 day run. Hope to fix the couple little issues and head back maybe nest weekend or the next.

I had Al's Buggy shop in White City build be a 4 seat long travel with a 2.5 turbo subaru , somewhere between 310 and 330 hp. And a mendi E box tranny. Had it out last weekend for it's maiden voyage. Took it back to the builder today to have a couple little leaks taken care of and it was running a little warm. Hope to have it back this week so we can go out again this coming weekend. And if not we will do a 3 dayer the following weekend. It would be nice meeting a few new riders.
