« on: January 14, 2006, 04:02:30 AM »

My 10yr old Has been in hard training now for over 3 monthes for his test today. He starts at 5:00am and does the physical portion until 10:00. then he gets a 2 hr break and goes into his forms portion. Wish him luck.  Grin His 11th birthday is monday and his Black Belt would be the best gift ever. He has done martial arts since he has been 5 years old.

Well, I dropped him off yesterday morning at 4:45am to start the physical portion of the test. He told me it consisted of 10 miles of running, 1100 sit-ups, 1050 push-up(situps and pushups were done in a mud puddle  while it was raining) a horse stance on a wall for a 1/2 hour and in between all of this going through their forms 3 times. The instructors were so hard on them that 2 police cars came out to the park thinking it was a domestic disturbance. He made that part.( (it was 4 1/2 hours) Then had a 2 1/2 hour break, went back in uniform to do the forms,1 hour, sparing(fighting)1/2 hour then they had to go through board breaking at the end(4 boards). He also had to do 6 essay questions that were due in the morning before they started the physical part. At the end of this board breaking session they all sat down. the instructor talked to the parents and Friends present and told them the HUGE commitment they made, how hard the journey was and that only 1 in 900 make it. He MADE IT. Grin
