Snow Riding
« on: January 10, 2006, 05:38:54 PM »

Has anyone taken there ATVs up to Diamond Lake to ride in the snow?  I just picked up a trail map and it shows you can ride ATVs on a lot of the trails. This sounds like fun and would like to try it, but would like a little more info before I head up.

I might try and go up there in the next few weeks depending on weather. I'll let you know when I'm planning on going. I think the first time it will just be my brother his brother in law, and me so we can figure out what it all about before we take the kids up.

Wow, funny you should ask.  Our group the Sand Wizards, goes to Diamond lake every year to play in the snow. We take our ATV's and put the nobbies on and have a ball. We have been doing this for about 5 years now and it is a blast. We alwayse go in feb. because that seems like the best time of the year to go. Usally Presidents day. I think. Anyway this year it is Feb  2nd thru the 5th.  We alwayse leave the kids at home and make this an adult trip.

The highway around the lake is about 12 miles, and they groom it every day. The only thing that you have to watch out for is the snowmobiles. Man they are fast.  There is also a lot of trails there that is marked for ATV's. Some of the trails you can noit take ATV's on. They are marked. Thats because of the snow gets to deep.

We also make reservations at the resort for this time. We don't bother taking the haulers up there because they aren't made for that kind of weather. Water freezing up and such. Its really nice to stay in the cabins or motel. Then we have potlucks to. We rent the Bailey room for that, and we also eat in the restaurant to. And of course we visit the bar as well.

Its a great time for all, so if you want to have a good time, go to Diamond lake and play in the snow.
