Pipe for my 2005 z-400
« on: October 18, 2005, 08:20:29 PM »

I'm thinking of getting a new pipe for my 2005 z-400. I want more out of 2nd gear for hill climbs. Right now it is stock. I want it to be louder than now but not as load as my husbands 400 with a t-4, what do you suggest??

I have a Yoshimura on my z400, it is loud and has a lot more power than stock.  My brother has a White Brothers E2 with a removable spark arrester tip on his DVX400.  Not too loud when in, when removed it can be and seems to have more power than mine.  It looks very nice as well.

I can hardly wait to get all this new equipment on my quad and try it out. It should be on by the trip to Florence on the 25th of this month.

I got the pipe, jet kit, filter and cdi box in yesterday, Everything seems straight forward except the jet kit. It has a little brass thing(assume main jet) and a needle with a few grooves at the top section of it. I guess the needle has to go in, but witch postion on the grooves do I use?

Wow, thats a good question. The best advise that I could give you is to go to our site, Sand Wizards, and ask them in there. I know that we have a bunch of folks that has the z-400 and a lot of dang good mechanice to. I am sure that they can tell you where to set it pretty close.

What a lot of work. It took about 5 hrs Saturday to put on the pipe, filter W/adaptors,and to get that cdi unit on, they shipped me a cdi for an 04 and I could not figure out how to make it fit, Powersports(A great sponsor) switched it out for me at no charge. Just had the carb jetted last night and we are ready to hit the coast for the weekend. Hopfully have the Elka's by then and I will report how everything went.
