Hi Everyone, There is a meeting this Saturday, October 16, 2010, 8:30 to 3:30, at the Siuslaw Fire and Rescue Station #1, located at 2625 Highway 101 in Florence. The public comment period is scheduled for 11:00am. If you like to ride in the dunes, you should go to this meeting. Our sport is under attack and unless you get involved and fight for the right to ride on public land, we will loose it. Just show up with your favorite riding T-shirt as a show of support for OHV recreation. Being politically active is about as much fun as brushing your teeth, but soon there will no where left to ride unless we all start doing our part by being involved in the process that makes the decisions as to whether or not to close riding areas. Remember to be respectful, but given an opportunity to speak, tell them how much you enjoy recreating on your OHV. For more info go here... http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/siuslaw/projects/rec-plans-projects/dunes-routes/index.shtmlHas anyone ridden Pismo Beach in CA lately? Why not, because there is nothing left to ride on. That is our future here, unless we fight for what we have to keep the dunes open.

Thanks rx2ride, Have you posted this to TI Facebook page yet?? Sand Wiazard Racing? PM falloutboy to He lives on the coast and may get his club to come www.jeep4playoffroad.org . You are right, we need to speak up NOW or loose the dunes forever. Pismo is an example of what can happen if we dont join together and fight back. I am sending the link to all my riding buddies. And welcome to the club SD

Thanks for trying falloutboy, hopefully someone will go and bring up the short notice issue. How did they sneak this up on everyone. Nobody I have contacted new about it. Just another example of bureaucrats doing our thinking for us and ramming it down our throats.
Would like to see a lawsuit against them for failing to keep the invasive species off the dunes and make them clean it out.

This isn't new. No one tried to sneak this up on anyone. These ODNRA OHV Designated Routes Working Group have been going on since November. The links are all over the internet with one such link pasted below. http://www.dunercentral.com/forums/oregon/3097-legislation-all-oregon-dunes.htmlPosted on: October 17, 2010, 04:14:19 PM
THANKS DJ. Did any one make the meeting? update?
DJ, with all the drag racers in Florence last weekend you would think we might have been able to get a little support at the meeting. Sadly, that was not the case. What's even worse than that? The Florence Chamber of Commerce went out of their way to notify all local business about this meeting and the turnout was aweful. It's obvious what will happen to many Florence businesses if duner money stops coming to town. Embarassingly, only two Florence businesses had represenation there. One was Honeyman Nursery, whose owners have been awesome in this effort and the other was River House Inn. So if you stay at a hotel in Florence, make sure you remember who was out supporting you and don't forget to support them.

Thanks for the update Senator. Can you post more links to this kind of information? Maybe start a new post here on the general page with all of them in one spot people can Either click on here or copy and paste them to there computer? THATS A REALLY GOOD LINK.
As for sneaking this up on us I stand by that , I use more media outlets than the Internet to watch for this. Real time thru TV . Television and local news papers as well as locals in the area . I never read or saw anything about this, only thru falloutboy did I learn of it . I realize this stuff has been going on for along time, I was surprised by this particular meeting.Maybe others were to, no one in my local area new about it. please post those links here on a the general forum. They will be welcomed I'm sure. In the past I have seen the state and city governments do the minimum publishing information to cover there butts but not enough to have any turn out from the people it affects. They have been very selective in where and how they get the information out. BUT PEOPLE STILL HAVE TO SHOW UP. I was really disappointed at the attendance at some of the ODFW meetings on the Hunter Orange debate, sadly even with races in Florencee nobody attended the meeting there.. If we want to keep it we will have to fight for it, network and keep each other up to date.
Thanks again for the info I will share this link with other riders here.

DJ I wish you did to. It's hard when so much is scheduled during the week for me to make it. My job does not believe in sick calls/absentees. And I try to attend more than just Dune related meetings. Will you ever transfer back here?
