Top 4

With all this truck talk lately makes me wonder, since I don't know too much about engines......(as some of you know)............ On my Edge Attitude I have the ability to monitor 4 things at once. On my stock dash I have Tranny Temp, RPM, Speed, Oil Pressure, Engine Temp, Battery, Fuel Level. I know my speedo is off, but only by 3 and don't feel that I need to waist a spot on watching that. EGT's, Engine Temp are the 2 most important
So, what do you think are the top 4 most important? I am thinking about towing here........during my daily drive I don't watch the numbers nearly as much).
I have the ability to monitor: • Boost • EGT (exhaust gas temperature) • Barometric PSI • Speed MPH • Engine Coolant Temp • 1Gear (torque converter lock) • Intake Air Temp • Load % • 2Slip % • Transmission Temp • Throttle % • Turbo Boost PSI • RPM • Backdown % (Percent back down due to high EGT)

E.G.T.s , boost , tranny temp. , and fuel pressure ( if you can get it on that duraterd ) . Everybody knows why the e.g.t.s are important , ( so you dont melt the motor or the turbo down ) but boost pressure is also important , because if something went wrong with your wastegate on the turbo , you could over spool it . Believe me , it can happen . When you over spool a turbo it sounds like someone just let a grenade go off under your hood . Besides all that , you can also end up with shrapnel inside your motor if the turbo lets go on the intake side . Tranny temp. is just so you don't over heat when pulling a load . You already have a engine temp. on your factory gauges . The fuel pressure is just to make sure that you are getting enough fuel to keep your injection pump alive . Your injection pump is a pusher pump , not a puller . If it isn't getting the fuel it needs , you will end up forking out around 1200 - 1500 bones for a new one . That Edge should also have a program to reset your speedo for bigger tires .

thanks for the input shane.........just to fill you in, i do have a dash mounted stock tranny temp guage. will that differ much from the edge dispaly? also, i counldn't find fuel pressure......or is it listed under a different term/name? as far as the edge goes, it will not change my speedo on the truck, but will give me speed with bigger tires if i select it for a display in my 4 choices.........which, i know i am 3 off, so i don't want to put that up since i feel other info would be more inportant.

How old is your programmer ? Almost every one that I've installed has the capabilities of doing everything I mentioned before . The other thing is , if your speedo is off by 3 m.p.h. , the faster you go , the further off it will be , because it works off of gear ratios . You probably already knew that , but I figured I throw that in anyways , in case you didn't .

How old is your programmer ? 2006. the option list I posted is directly off of the user manual, and I verified it on the Edge itself...........
