New member: Howdy,

I just joined the club a few weeks ago. I recently purchased a Suzuki Quad King 450 for working around the house. Since I heat the house with a wood stove, I mostly use it to haul wood. I live out in the vicinity of Wilderville I'm hoping to use the ATV to explore some of the forest back roads in the area and beyond.

I owned a motorcycles years ago and after many near death experiences on them, gave up motorcycle riding. The ATV is my first motorized recreational vehicle since then.

My wife and I are backpackers, canoe trippers, road and mountain bikers. I own three canoes and I usually take one or two of them with my bikes when traveling. We like to do extended canoe trips up in Canada and the US. The last two years we spent the spring in Utah paddling the Green River. We put-in at the city of Green River and our take-out is at Spanish Bottom on the Colorado for a total of 120 miles. Lots of Anazasi and Fremont Indian ruins to explore on the river bottoms. We paddled the Missouri from Ft Benton, Montana to Kipps Landing (150 miles) on the Lewis and Clark bicentennial anniversary of their historic trips. We camped where they camped. I backpacked the Chilkoot trail up in Alaska with my daughter and her husband a few years ago. My wife and I will probably do a backpacking trip this fall into the Bull of the Woods wilderness area.

I'd like to take the ATV back to Utah and explore the area around Moab. I did that a little on my mountain bike but you can only pedal thirty miles or so on a bike which on a out and back, lets you go out only fifteen miles. Also, that's optimistic with a lot of climbing, and most of the trails have lots of climbing. I'd like to take the ATV to some of the more remote areas to see more of the dinosaur tracks that were too far away for the bike.

I'm hoping to link up with someone interested in exploring on an ATV both local and far. Since I'm retired, I usually spend several weeks during the summer camping in Oregon besides any other trips I make out of state. I like the Bend area (Cascade Lakes highway) and usually go twice a year to bike and paddle stopping at Diamond Lake on the way. This year I'll bring the ATV along with my canoes and bikes. So, if exploring is in your blood, let me know and perhaps we can link up for a trip.
