Swingarm

Ok, here is the carnage.  The swingarm tube on the left side broke.  There are no signs of corrosion, or anything.  It did NOT break on a weld.  Very strange.
I had just crested the 2nd dune south of Spinreel Hill, and I heard a bunch of noise, and I just pulled the clutch in and rolled to a stop.  I looked down and my chain was off, and thought oh well, I just need to tighten that, but after seeing the broken tube I knew I was done.  Thankfully it was our last ride of the 5 day trip so it wasn't that bad.
It is 2 years old and it is on my 2005 Yamaha YFZ.
Once we get home I will pull the swingarm off and get ahold of Mike at ModQuad.

yes, however, since it already broke at that spot, the weld would not be strong enough to hold up again.

Speaking of Swing arms, I was thinking about extending the one on Mrs. Sandflickers.  you know to help with the back issue she recently gave herself.  My word, I had no idea they were so expensive.  I'll have to start a special fund or something.

How long will the new swing arm be ??
 I put + 4" on the girls and + 6" on mine. Seem about right for our riding.

We extended Lisa's swing arm 4" and it seems to work great. Now don't forget, If you extend you most likely would  widen as well. We also went 4" wider. Then you will want to change the suspension, We went with Elka Dune Edition (thanks to ALBA and ELKA for Custom building a set and coming down to install and dune tune them). Then you have this long and wide quad so you have to invest in some BLING to make it look good. Shoot, Now it looks so good you have to make it faster, We did this to with the help from the guys at ALBA. I guess when you put it into perspective, it can be expensive to extend the swing arm.

She's doing much better - she says she still hurts - but she rode the week-end following T-day.  Nothing too ambitious though.  I was really supprised she did ride, and actually I tried to talk her out of it, but ride she did.  She was hesitant (expectedly) to go up any hills.  But I think with a little more time and a kidney belt she be doing better soon.

+4" is what I was thinking, and yes wheel spacers at the back for extra width.  I know we'll need a longer chain, but with the Fox shocks (already on her quad) I thought we'd be ok.
Did you guys buy pre-made, or did you take to a welding shop?  The one I saw on line was $700. big ones, I don't think a welder would charge anywhere near that, but I've been wrong before.
Let me know what you guys think.  I know it would make her feel better going up hills.  And now with it already injured, I worry it wouldn't take a lot to re-injure it.

It comes with needle bearings and powder coat color of your choice. And uses all stock Hardware, you may need a longer brake line. Turn around time is 3-4 business days. With out a jig to keep things in line you could have alignment problems with the  chain .  I  recomend a shop set up for this swing arm, who will stand behind them.
you may choose to paint or chrome it your self and save some $ . Ask Chris. He does not chrome them in house.
I have sent off 2 other E-mails to shops asking about Predator Swing arms, I will let you know what they say.

I did buy pre made. My Banshee has a SLC Quad custom and the other Banshee has a Mod Quad and the Blaster has a
"Swing Arm shop"  swing arm.

the new swingarm will be shipped tomorrow along with a new Elka Shock and new linkage........giving me an overall 13 inches or rear travel!
